Thank you for all your patience. Now that the State has put out what we hope is their final guidance for safe soccer play we are able to provide everyone with the information needed for a successful soccer season! Please read the below information in its entirety and see our website ( for the most up to date information.

 When does the season start?

Our tentative start date will be Saturday, September 19th.

Can I still register my child to play or signup to be a coach/assistant coach?

YES! We know many people have been waiting to hear from us before deciding for the Fall. Now that we know soccer is a go we need players to register by Sept 1st so we may make teams. The number of players we have will be the deciding factor on what play will look like. We are always in need of coaches, especially for the junior division. Soccer will be one of the few sports activities kids will have this Fall. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the field.

What is the cost and can I get a refund?

We have discounted prices by 25% for 2020/2021, along with a “pay over time” option.  There are no separate costs for Fall and Spring (it is one payment for both). MYS will issue a full refund if the entire season (Fall and Spring) is postponed without any games played. If any games are played, then a partial refund will be issued taking into account MYS’s costs incurred and the number of games played over the course of the full season (Fall and Spring). See the below link for pricing.

Will there be games / practices?

Yes! Both games on Saturdays and practices during the week (Grades 2-8). While the format is still TBD, we will be offering professional clinics similar to past years with slight safety modifications.

What will soccer look like?

MYS will be adhering to all the State mandated COVID-19 safety protocols to ensure safe and fun soccer. Some of these changes are no throw ins or corner kicks. Masks will be involved and the number of players on the field may be adjusted. These details may change (and have in the past) so look for additional emails as the start of the season gets closer. Please see the link below to the official, and up-to-date, safe play guidelines.

Mass Youth Soccer Guidelines:

Will there be travel? (Senior Division; Grades 5+)

There will be no travel during the Fall. All soccer games will be in town vs other Marshfield teams. We believe this will provide the best balance between competition and safety. This will be reevaluated for the Spring season in conjunction with other towns in our league.

Will there be tryouts? (Senior Division; Grades 5+)

Tryouts will be held sometime in late Fall. Time and date have not been determined at this time.

What do I need to know/do as a parent?

Your ability to follow the State’s guidelines are critical in ensuring our kids will have a Fall and Spring soccer season. Everyone must follow safe distancing, wear masks, and keep their children home if they show any signs of possible COVID-19 infection. It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure we have a safe environment so the kids can play.

Thank you,

Marshfield Youth Soccer Board of Directors
