A FEW THINGS ABOUT OUR CLUB:

PLAY

Play allows players to express their autonomy and to perceive and solve problems. It is the way children learn and practice the skills they need to grow and develop.  We're a club for kids who love soccer and want to play without constant adult direction.

FUN

We want kids to have fun. We want kids to always be involved. Players shouldn't have to stand around in long lines or listen to a coach talk for too long.  Our sessions are game based.  We believe skills are acquired in context.  We will not have kids dribbling around cones.

Do players really need fundamentals before playing games?

LONG TERM DEVELOPMENT

"Skilled behavior evolves over timescales of performance, learning, and development."  We think long-term.  We value togetherness and want to help players and teams form synergies over time.

What is winning?

Being better today then you were yesterday, every day.”

The talent that whispers

LEARNING

How do players learn and what is the learning process?

Learning is not the process of repeating a solution, it is repeating the process of finding a solution.”

We believe that skills are acquired in context. The way a player perceives, will determine how a player acts. Soccer has a landscape of opportunities to perceive and act on (affordances).

ADULT DIRECTION

"Kids' voices should always be louder than adults." We want to encourage independence & confidence. We don't want to develop coach dependent players.

We want to allow players the opportunity to make their own decisions, to make mistakes, and learn from them. We want to encourage self regulation and self directed learning.

Parents should not be directing players from the sidelines. "The game belongs to the kids so let them play it."

COMPETITION

Just because we want to include as many players as possible and for as long as possible, that does not mean we're not competitive. We are competitive! We encourage competitiveness, and want kids who are resilient, perseverant, who lead, and support.

You can't climb mountains by going around them. You learn to climb mountains by climbing mountains.”

COMMITMENT

If you're a parent who compares their child's team to other teams, wants their child to win at all costs, constantly shouts instructions, argues with the coach, likes to club shop, we're not going to be a good fit for you.

Soccer is a team sport. If you're interested in a place at our club, before signing your child up please make sure your aware of the commitment because your participation will be important for everyone involved.

WE ARE DIFFERENT

We are not like other clubs. We're proud of this. We want kids to have fun. We want kids to make their own decisions. We don't label children as elite or treat them like mini professionals. They are kids.

The majority of our players are from Marshfield but we play against clubs who have players from all over. We know that games will be challenging. We are playing these teams not because they are easy, because they are hard.

The reasons you seek out the tough stuff is.. to challenge you to be better”
