Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Answers to the most common questions.
Pre K - 4th Grade
If you are registering your preschool or "young kindergarten" player in SportsPilot you should select 'Young KG' at registration. These are usually kids that will be going into Kindergarten next year but missed the age requirements due to their birthday. For younger children please go to the town's rec department website for other programs.
We ask parents of these young players to volunteer to coach and they must be at all practices and games. The child will have to repeat KG soccer the next year to sync up with his/her classmates.
Also, it is common for these younger players to be overwhelmed by the older children's play. Before signing up please note there is a $50 non-refundable fee for registration if he/she decides not to play and you require a refund.
The steps are:
- Create an account in our registration system and set up the family account (include your young player).
- Sign him/her up to play soccer (select Young KG).
- Wait for a division director or coach to contact you with team placement (about a week or two before season starts) and welcome to Marshfield Youth Soccer!

No, grades KG to 4 play all games in Marshfield at the same time and location each week.
Practice times may vary between teams and age groups and will be communicated to you via email by your coach before the season.
For KG, practice is usually held right before the game as a combined timeslot.
Your child must have soccer cleats and shin guards to participate. Please also bring the appropriate size soccer ball.
We also highly recommend bringing a water bottle and weather appropriate clothing. Hooded sweatshirts must be tucked in.
Depending on age group your coach and division director will use either Sportspilot or TeamSnap.

Maybe. Depending upon the severity of the weather games and practices may be held during inclement weather. The only time games are 100% cancelled is during thunder and lightning.
Your coach or division director will notify you if your game/practice is still on. Please keep an eye on your email and/or Teamsnap.
The town may close the grass fields if rain/snow on previous days have made the fields unplayable and to prevent damage. MYS has no control over this.

Grade 5 - Post Grad (PG)
All Sr. division players and coaches MUST have a photo uploaded into Sportspilot or else they will not be able to play. This is a requirement for coastal league soccer. It takes under a minute to do. Video directions below.
Starting at grade 5 players may tryout to make the Select team(s). You do not need to tryout to be placed on a team. Tryouts usually last two days and players must register ahead of time. Times and dates will be communicated via email by division directors or coaches.
Team selection is based on tryout performance as well as past year coach evaluations. Evaluators may consist of a combination of MYS coaches, MUSC coaches, and/or high school varsity soccer players.
Coaches are not assigned to teams until the teams are formed to ensure fairness. Once teams are formed they will be posted on the MYS website.
Depending on player pool their may be multiple Select teams per age group based on skill level.
If you child is did not make a Select team they may tryout the next year. Many times players who do not make it one year make it the next.
In some cases players may be 'brought up' to a Select team during the season. This would be based on a number of factors which include performance and available slots on a Select team roster.
Due to team size limits in the Sr, division players who register towards the end of the registration period may be placed on a wait list.
- If enough players are on a waitlist to form a new team they will be moved off the waitlist and onto the new team.
- If a player who is on a team decides to not play that season, players on the waitlist will be placed on the team in the order they were registered (first on the waitlist = first off the waitlist).
- Players who are not placed on a team by the Spring season will be provided a full refund.
- Waitlisted players may get a full refund at any time by request to registrar@marshfieldsoccer.com.
To avoid the possibility of being put on a wait list we highly recommend registering as soon as possible for the new soccer season.

Registration & Payment
No. MYS soccer is a combined Fall/Spring season.
The main reason for this is the need to prepay for many items before the start of the season (uniforms, town field fees, insurance, equipment). A combined season also allows for better team cohesion which enables better training and enjoyment for the kids.
MYS's single payment for two seasons is comparable to the cost of many town's single season price.
No, it is a single payment for both the Fall/Spring season.
The Spring seasons starts in April and the Fall season starts in September. The exact dates will vary between years.
For the Jr division the answer is yes. Register your child in Sportspilot and a coach will reach out to you details.
For the Sr division the answer is usually yes. In some cases existing team sizes will prevent additional players from being added to the roster after the start of the season. If you have any questions please email registrar@marshfieldsoccer.com.
There is no pro-rated pricing.
During the signup process in Sportspilot you may enter your team placement request. If there are no conflicts or issues with team balance the request may be approved.
We are always looking for coaches and it is a lot of fun.
